20 Hours to go.....

We are in the home stretch. In 20 hours I will be making my way to the starting line in Hopkinton. Hopefully I will not need a canoe to get there.

It is raining steadily today and the heaviest rain is suppose to occur overnight. There is still suppose to be rain and a steady head wind tomorrow but it is not quite as bad as originally projected. In some ways if it is going to be a lousy day - I would prefer it to be epic (driving rains and 50+ MPH winds) - so I could have something to brag about to my grandkids. "You think this is rain - you should have seen the Marathon Noreaster of '07!!!!"

I am pretty ready to go - I am going out to do a light run shortly.

I am very close to my goal of raising $3500 for the Greater Boston FoodBank. If you have not donated and would like to - there is a link on the right side of the blog.

Very impressive time for the difficult conditions! While you did not eclipse my one and only time of 3:40.25 (I checked the official time today, in a shoebox with various running memorabilia), you can claim an asterisk best. Sports records are becoming ever more complex....so many factors vary!

My race at age 41 was 43 degrees at the start. I recall a cold wind, but probably just 15 mph. Flat course, four times around Lakes Calhoun and Harriet in Minneapolis.
I did not run as steadily as you -- it looks like you had a "kick" for the final two miles! I was 650th among 1175 starters. It seemed like 200 passed me during my final six mile struggle.

I'll watch some race highlights, read the paper, and look over your summary tomorrow.

Great time Greg! How do you feel? Knee? Did you feel the rain kept you cool, and helped your PR?

Congratulations!
